First things first, you need to keep your kitchen clean. It makes it a much more pleasant place to spend time and cook in. These are our favorite brushes. Yes, they are baby bottle brushes, no we do not have any children, but they are great because they have all the sizes you need and a cute holder where they can dry. It comes in a few different designs, the one above is the one we have (I thought the little cacti were cute). They also sell replacement brushes so replacing them is easy.
For the longest time, we were white-knuckling it through kitchen clean up because we didn’t want to give up the counter space for a drying rack, then we finally gave in, and trust me, it makes kitchen clean up a million times easier. You don’t need anything fancy. We like the one above because it drains right into the sink and fits all of your dinner dishes from the night. Plus the black finish matches my soul but it does come in other colors.
You need measuring cups. Just get the nice glass ones that will last much longer and you can microwave. You won’t regret it.
If you’re in the market for a splurge this is what I would get. I actually got this knife as a gift and I use it for EVERYTHING. Having a good set of knives is essential to a complete kitchen but when just starting out this one will do. Plus having good knives makes cutting easier, more accurate, and safer. We have an entire block of Wusthof knives but this one in particular is my go-to.
Don’t have an instant pot? Just get one. Get rid of all hot plates and slow cookers and replace them with this. They are just so convenient and easy to cook in. Plus I find they make the best meal prep meals. I use mine at least 3 times every week.
